Description

Over the course of a four-year production run, 1,270 Porsche Carrera GTs were produced, including this one from 2005 with 39,113 Miles. The vehicle has a black exterior with dark gray leather seats. A 5.7-liter V10 engine coupled to a six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential powers the vehicle. The vehicle is equipped with forged magnesium wheels that are spaced apart in a staggered width, ceramic-composite brake rotors and clutch, electronically operated rear spoiler, air conditioning, a Porsche Online Pro CD audio, air vent slats with an aluminum appearance, and seatbelt retractors. The Carrera GT concept car was a spin-off of the late-1990s, never-built LMP2000 development prototype, and made its debut at the 2000 Paris Motor Show. The model's construction included a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic monocoque and subframe manufactured by ATR Group in Italy when it went into production in 2003.

This example features similar detachable roof panels and basalt black-finished carbon fiber body panels. Aerodynamic components include a washer, a manually-operated rear spoiler, and a rear diffuser with electrical control. The 20×12.5-inch back wheel and 19×9.5-inch front wheel are made of forged magnesium and are fastened using thread-direction-specific color-coded center-lock nuts. Cross-drilled 15-inch ceramic compound brake rotors with yellow six-piston monobloc aluminum calipers at each corner deliver stopping power. The dashboard, center console, door caps, and racing-style XT seats with carbon-fiber and Kevlar shells are all upholstered in dark gray leather (DZ) in the cockpit. In addition to the inside trim made of magnesium, carbon fiber, and aluminum, the Carrera GT is equipped with air conditioning, controlled and heated side mirrors, one-touch power windows, a Porsche Online Pro CD audio, aluminum-look air vent slats, and seat belt retractors. A laminated beechwood knob pays homage to the balsa units used in Porsche 917 race cars by atop the high-mounted shifter. With titanium connecting rods, dry-sump lubrication, two overhead camshafts on each cylinder bank, and Bosch Motronic ME7 engine management, the mid-mounted 5.7-liter V10 is a liquid-cooled engine. When new, it generated 435 lb-ft of torque at 5,750 rpm and 605 horsepower at 8,000 rpm. New spark plugs and belts were installed as part of an engine-out service in 2017, and in September 2022 a new battery was installed. At that time, an oil change was also done. A limited-slip differential and a six-speed manual transaxle provide power to the rear wheels.

" It's also the last real “old-world” supercar and, in my opinion, the best, the greatest and the pinnacle of the form invented and perfected by cars such as the Lamborghini Miura, the Ferrari F40, the Porsche 959 and the McLaren F1." - Doug DeMuro Autotrader

"This is the most exciting, the best looking, the most expensive and the fastest road going Porsche ever made. It's called the Carrera GT." - Jeremey Clarkson TopGear

"The Carrera GT's race-bred V10 starts on the twist of a key (how conventional!) and treats bystanders to an exuberant and uniquely melodious exhaust bark." - Bob Harper EVO

"Ferdinand Porsche would be proud of the Carrera GT." Larry Webster Car and Driver
